Just a little tighter with the crop on this one to lose the platform people.

nice, what did you do to the first one to get the defined colour like that?
Mainly just brightened up the dark/shadow tones, lowered the highlights, added a little saturation and raised the clarity a bit. Then cropped and added a little post-crop vignette.
I think I overdid the noise
Actually, I quite like the noise. In some of my mono shots I add it in deliberately.

See, I debated that.. Wanted a tighter crop but thought that leaving a hint of the people adds a little context to the shot..

thanks for ideas guys. I don't have lightroom but I guess some of the things are available in PS Elements. Will try them.

The controls in Lightroom are basically the same as the Adobe Camera Raw importer that takes your NEF files into Elements so you should be able to achieve exactly the same results. Lightroom is essentialy Adobe Bridge + Adobe Camera Raw plus some printing stuff in one package.
