I'm a big fan of the Nik effects. I use Colour Efex and Silver Efex quite a lot.

This image was converted to mono with Silver Efex Pro..

Although I'm only in my first few hours of using Nik it is proving to be as much fun as any software I've yet to come across. It just seems to offer so much and yet works seamlessly within (and without) Aperture. I guess I find it hard to believe when software other than Apple stuff actually works. I've posted another photo but attached it to my previous "first try". Have a look to see if that worked. Oh! What size did you post your great shot? Looks stunning.
