Project 52: 2016 Intro / General Discussion

Postby Richard Olpin » Sat Dec 19, 2015 3:27 am

So, who's in for another crack at this in 2016 then?

Very simple concept. Starting with the biggest broad photographic topics you try to check off as many of these as possible from the list and hopefully average one shoot per week.

As a minimum goal you should aim to post one shot per topic. If you're feeling especially adventurous aim to post a set of seven representing one shot per day or seven shots for the week (which could of course be your best seven from a single shoot)

First off, make yourself a thread here in the 'Projects' section and call it something like 'Richard Olpin - Project 52/2016'. That'll be where you post your photos and people can comment about them. We'll keep this thread for general discussion about the project and sharing ideas for topics etc.

Easiest way to post them would be to create a set on Flickr and then you can simply use the sharing tools and Flickr and grab the BBcode to post here in the forum.

From my original post when I started this a few years ago, here are a list of my sample topics. Feel free to suggest some more or add your own to suit your own particular interests. I do highly recommend though that you do your utmost to aim for variety and get yourself out of your comfort zone..

Nice one.

Feel free to add any more ideas for topics you can think of.

I'm going to make a suggestion that the goal is to produce a minimum on just one image on theme for at least 52 different themes though the year. I know from past experience it's not always possible to hit a particular topic at a particular time but it does help to try and average one theme per week if possible.

Updated the topic list. Will add more as I think of them.

I've made a flickr group for this: here https://www.flickr.com/groups/project52-2016/

We'll keep it as a private group just for us lot & invited friends only, so if you join it will send a request to me to accept before you can post.

Only one more day for project 365. Time to plan this one. I have asked to join the Flickr group.
Is the aim that we do the same subject or is it just pull any subject?

Pick any subject you like, and indeed if you think of anything cool I'd not thought of then add that too. Maybe once in a while we can pick a topic and all do the same one, or perhaps have a group shoot somewhere for example but otherwise whatever floats your boat.

The key thing is that as individuals people are trying to push themselves to try different things and get out of their comfort zones a bit.

My first topic will be Birds. This was found in Cheltenham by chance so made it my first one of the year.

I've moved your pic out into your own thread. This one's just for general chat about the project itself, everyone should have their own thread for their photos.

Please feel free to suggest other topics in here, the more the merrier!

My original motivation was to encourage people to get out of their comfort zone and try different things, so obviously my original list was aimed to be as general as possible, but for the more experienced folks it would be cool to see some more technical / advanced topics in there too.
